Vintage 1900s Black Beaded Lace & Dark Red Titanic Jump Dress, Silk, Marcasites, Sequins, Damaged Costume
ERA: Made within the last 30s years, with true vintage materials item from the 1900s - 1930s
MEASUREMENTS: the item is 53 inches long, it will fit a 22 inch bust with room, 25 inch waist, 40 inches around hips. Shoulders are 16 inches wide.
MATERIAL: all black lace is silk from the late 1800s to early 1900s. The dark red acetate taffeta and rayon satin trim are 1920s to 1930s
Here's my take on the dress. This dress was made within the last 30 years, with antique and vintage fabrics and lace, and it appears to have been made as a costumer version of 'The Jump Dess' from the Titanic Movie.
There are 5 different black silk lace of the dress - 4 on the bodice and then the skirt. The skirt lace is amazing with ivory cotton embroidered appliques, small black sequins and beads and silver marcasites. All of the black lace is antique from the late 1800s to early 1900s.
The wide ruffle of lace around the neck is trimmed with rayon satin.
The satin and the dark red/burgundy acetate taffeta is probably from the 1920s to 1940s.
The sewing is from the last 20-30s years. It is not Edwardian style sewing.
No lining in the dress, hooks down the back of the bodice sewn to the gown.
I could also be wrong, maybe the dress is 1900s and was altered refurbished much later.
CONDITION: Fair condition. Not wearable as is because of the delicate lace.
The black lace on the skirt has large tears along the waist, hanging from the hips. Large tear along the hem, probably from walking and catching her shoe heel.
The antique lace is dry and tears easy on the skirt and the wide collar. Some loose and missing beads on the skirt.
The black satin fabric around the neck is buckled from the way it was sewn.
Fabric or a belt is missing from the waist.
The burgundy/dark red fabric is in very good condition.
