ERA: True vintage item from the 1800s
MEASUREMENTS: the item is 40 inches long, it will fit a 28-1/2 inch waist, 124 inches around hem.

Heavy black woven wool skirt with raised Matelasse design in the weave. There is a button opening on the back of the skirt. The skirt is fuller around the bottom and slightly longer in the back. Fully lined in brown cotton and black corduroy trim on the bottom of the hem. There are button holes around the waistband to attach a bodice too.
CONDITION: Fair condition. The fabric is dry and pulls apart when you pull on it. Not strong enough to wear, for use as display only.
The wool is torn at the top in 1 to 2 inch areas. There is a 3+ inch area of tears and fraying in the fabric midway down, and another 2+ inch area of traying and tears.
Button missing from closure. The back of the waistband was expanded with cotton about 4 inches on one size and 2 inches on the other. The cotton and the wool around the waist is split and frayed along the top.
