Victorian Black Wool Cloth & Velvet Bodice & Skirt with Issues, 1800s
ERA: True vintage item from the 1800s
MEASUREMENTS: The bodice is 19 inches long,36 inches around the chest - best suited for under 34 inch bust, 28 inches around the waist, 14 inches across the shoulders, 22 inch long sleeves.
The skirt is 38 inches long, 32 inches around the hips
MATERIAL: thin woven wool and cotton velvet
LABEL: none
Thin woven black wool over a brown cotton lining. Black cotton velvet on the ends of the sleeves and down the front. 14 cool carved black glass buttons down the front.
Full black skirt with button on the waist, lined in brown cotton. Large patch pocket made of an old faux fur.
CONDITION: Fair to Good condition with obvious issues. Some light fade to the black velvet and some balding to the velvet from wear along the edges and around the front of the neck and the ends of the sleeves. Scattered holes in the thin wool showing the brown lining through them on both pieces. The waistband on the skirt is a different fabric, maybe a replacement and a section of it has been repaired with another type of fabric. Cluster of holes next to the button on the waist and torn along the top of the waistband.
