2 Graduation Cap Tassel Sets from late 1800s with Note of Provenance, Lebanon College for Young Ladies Tennessee Music Studies
ERA: True vintage item from 1899
This envelope contacting 2 set of silk graduation tassels was in a group of vintage clothing that I recent bought. Both are noted to have been worn at graduation in 1899 from the Lebanon College for Young Ladies in Tennessee. The red and black tassels were worn by seniors studying music, worn with a black dress and black cap. The black tassel is 7 inches plus loop and the red tassel is 5-1/2 inches plus loop.
The second set is white and pale blue attached to a covered button. Both tassels are about 5 inches plus loops. They were worn on a white cap by music graduates.
The lady who wore the tassels may have been Flora Hudson Livingston, her name was on a few other things in the estate. She was a student at Lebanon College from 1897 to 1899.
CONDITION: All are in very good condition. Nice and smooth, no tangling. The white tassels are lightly off white.
